The Adolescent Girls Empowerment

Adolescent girls in Uganda face high risks and vulnerabilities that challenge their healthy development into young women: early marriage and childbearing, sexual and gender-based violence, unintended pregnancy and HIV

Adolescent girls in Uganda face high risks and vulnerabilities that challenge their healthy development into young women: early marriage and childbearing, sexual and gender-based violence, unintended pregnancy and HIV. The Adolescent Girls Empowerment and Household Improvement Program (AGEHIP) was designed to address these challenges by building girls’ social, health and economic assets in the short term and improving sexual behavior, preventing early marriage, pregnancy and promoting education in the longer term.

Through our weekly, mentor-led, girls group meetings on health, life skills and financial education we are empowering Adolescent Girls to become change agents and community champions.
