National Stakeholders Dialogue

The Annual National Stakeholders Dialogue on Adolescent health intends to provide a means for a broad range of stakeholders within Uganda to come together to learn, discuss and agree, or take steps toward agreement solutions to adopt towards addressing Adolescent Health issues

The Annual National Stakeholders Dialogue on Adolescent health intends to provide a means for a broad range of stakeholders within Uganda to come together to learn, discuss and agree, or take steps toward agreement solutions to adopt towards addressing Adolescent Health issues across the board in Uganda with an aim of informing national strategic direction, influence policy, and adolescent health programming for Uganda.

Annually, Peer To Peer Uganda (PEERU) in partnership with Ministry of Health with support from partners convenes the National Stakeholders Dialogue on Adolescent Health bringing together Adolescents and young people, Implementers of programs targeting Adolescents, government Ministries, UN agencies, Donor community, District leaders, Members of Parliament (Health Committee), Health service providers, non-governmental/civil society organizations, Academia and researchers, private sector, religious and cultural leaders, youth leaders, among other stakeholder for a two days dialogue. Since 2018, PEERU has successfully brought together over 300 participants annually from across the country including key stakeholders and partners to participate in the two days’ national dialogue in Kampala. This is conducted after a series of regional and district based dialogues conducted across Uganda building the case for the national event.

The dialogue is designed to influence policy and advocacy by bringing together key stake holders working on the ‘frontlines’ of the response to adolescent health issues to share best practices, to identify key factors for success to inform further program development across Uganda and also showcase innovative programs providing Adolescent Health services among priority populations across the continuum. The national dialogue focuses on strengthening Linkages between government and key stakeholders to address the Health needs of Adolescents in Uganda and influence replication, adaption and scale up of best practices on adolescent health.

Ultimately, the outcomes gathered from the national dialogue annually and the regional site light dialogues is used to engage various stakeholders to prioritize and meet the health needs of adolescents and young people as an essential component in achieving basic human rights to health.
