Health Advocacy

Through intensified advocacy campaigns on SRHR, HIV, TB and Harm Reduction programming focused on adolescents and youth, PEERU works with government and community structures to accelerate its momentum in influencing the policy agenda in Uganda and the East African Region at large.

PEERU raises levels of familiarity with an issue and promote health and access to quality health care and public health services at the individual and community levels among adolescents and youth in Uganda. Our advocacy interventions, strive to gain political commitment, policy support, social acceptance and systems support through, a combination of individual and social actions to try to affect change.

Through the health advocacy model, PEERU identifies emerging public health issues that require action among the youths. PEERU influences Policy reforms, gathers information on existing practice related to public health, legislation monitoring and providing feedback on how specific regulations impact adolescents and youths among local groups and communities. We implement mass and multi-media campaigns, direct political lobbying and community mobilization.

PEERU also conducts capacity building, outreach programs to enhance access to integrated health programs for vulnerable adolescents and youths.
